University of Portland Bulletin 2013-2014

XII. Honors at Graduation

Honors for undergraduate degrees at graduation are determined one semester prior to graduation by computing the G.P.A. in all courses (both University of Portland and transfer) applicable toward graduation. Transfer students who have not completed 30 semester hours in residence by one semester prior to graduation will be evaluated at the conclusion of all work. Fall semester graduates are included with the subsequent spring semester and summer semester graduates are included with the previous spring semester in determining honors at graduation. Honors are based on the following formula: within a given college or school, summa cum laude will be awarded to the student receiving the award for high scholastic achievement and to all students receiving a 4.00 G.P.A.; maxima cum laude to the next 3%; magna cum laude to the next 7%; cum laude to the next 10%.
