Health and Counseling Services

Advanced nursing services are available for most common health concerns. Referrals to community-based health care professionals are made as appropriate (emergencies are referred to public safety or to area hospitals). Health promotion services offer challenges and opportunities for exploring lifestyle choices which impact health. Wellness counseling in areas such as violence prevention, nutrition, stress management, sexuality, and exercise is available. Counseling services are available to facilitate personal growth and development. Skillful professional counselors can assist in treatment of mental illness, provide support in dealing with difficult personal issues, improve relationship skills, enhance coping effectiveness, assist in spiritual/faith issues, improve decision-making, and facilitate personal success at the University. The health center also provides substance abuse prevention, assessment, and referral services, and psychoeducational testing services are available to qualified students.
