Financial Aid

Financial Aid is available for summer semester for regularly admitted, eligible students. To determine financial aid eligibility, each student must complete the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available at studentaid.gov. For maximum consideration, the Office of Financial Aid should receive your FAFSA by January 15.

Many summer students rely on federal student loans to fund their summer studies. Students must be enrolled at least ½ time (6 credits for undergraduate students; 5 credits for graduate students) to be eligible for federal loans. All students are expected to complete the enrollment level for which their financial aid is disbursed. Consult Financial Aid before you change your enrollment once your summer aid is disbursed. Most aid is disbursed 10 days before the first day of your first summer class. However, federal Pell Grants, federal Opportunity Grants, and federal Nursing loans will not be disbursed until July 1.

Consumer Information

The University of Portland wants to ensure that all current and prospective students, current and future employees, and the general public have easy access to important information regarding campus safety, academic regulations, financial aid availability, and other general information about the University. This information has been compiled and is available at up.edu/disclosures. Printed copies are available upon request from the Provost's office.

Student Employment

Student employment is available during the summer semester. Human Resources will post open positions on the Student Job Board at up.edu/studentemployment. Students can work on campus during the summer if they are enrolled at least half-time in summer courses or pre-enrolled for fall courses.
