Learning Outcomes for the Military Studies Minor

Students completing the military studies minor will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a broad understanding of theories and concepts of military training, the use of military force and its impact on societies both domestic and international, current U.S. national security strategy, and the laws that govern warfare including the U.S. military justice system.
2. Articulate an understanding of the role of the military from a variety of perspectives through lenses that include historical, political, judicial, and ethical roles of the military in society, as well as domestic and international issues affecting the military profession.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of leadership styles including effective communication, utilizing workplace professionalism, cross-cultural-competencies, self-awareness, types of bias, and leading complex and diverse teams including equity/inclusion in teambuilding.
