The French minor is designed for students who want to achieve practical and culture-based proficiency in French to broaden their horizons and meet the increasing demand for people with world language skills and intercultural competence.
Learning Outcomes for the French Minor
Students completing the French minor will be able to:
- Communicate, in speaking and writing, with speakers of French about a variety of social, cultural, and historical topics.
- Comprehend a variety of written and spoken texts (e.g., literature, journalism, podcasts, films) for content and social, cultural, and historical significance.
- Demonstrate curiosity, appreciation, and discernment of different and similar cultural practices.
Minor Requirements
Prerequisites - 12 credit hours
12 lower-division credit hours in French courses or equivalent.
Required Courses - 12 upper-division credit hours
12 upper-division credit hours in French courses.
