ED 414 Building Knowledge with Texts

This course prepares candidates to select rich texts appropriate for different types of instruction. Examines how texts can be used to support vocabulary development, background knowledge, and comprehension instruction. Explores text use in reading, writing, science and social studies. Specifically examines representation in texts, supporting students in selecting texts and curating classroom libraries for diverse students in P-8 grades.
