This class explores form and theories of comedy and satire, past and present. It examines how great writers have turned malice and moral indignation into witty, funny, and biting fiction, poetry, and performance. Readings are drawn from authors such as Orwell, Everett, DeWitt, Moshfegh, Voltaire, Swift, Horace, and Juvenal.
