Construction Management Minor

Construction management is a specialty within civil engineering that focuses on the planning, managing, and overseeing the construction of a project. The goal of construction managers is to complete a project on time, within the budget, and to the specifications of the design engineers. Responsibilities include planning, design changes/modifications, construction, risk management, and safety. Construction managers need a good understanding of business management and civil engineering concepts.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Create project schedules, cost estimates, and safety plans
  • Apply project planning methods and tools used in construction projects

A maximum of 3 credits of CE 493 is allowed and the research project must be in the field of civil engineering.

For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree, only one of the 3-credit CE electives can be counted towards the 6 credits of required civil engineering electives.
