University of Portland Bulletin 2015-2016

Accessible Education Services

Melanie J. Gangle, M.S., coordinator

In keeping with the central tenets of its mission – teaching and learning, faith and formation, and service and leadership – the University of Portland is committed to the full access and inclusion of all qualified students in its programs. It is the policy of the University to ensure that students with disabilities have equal opportunity for participation in the University’s academic programs and activities, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities (as amended).

Accessible Education Services (AES) works in partnership with students with disabilities, faculty, and staff to coordinate reasonable accommodations and access to the University’s programs and activities. Appropriate documentation of a disability must be provided by the student before any consideration of accommodations or support can be provided. Guidelines for providing disability documentation are available from the AES website or from the coordinator upon request. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the coordinator for further information during the admission process and at the beginning of each semester at (503)943-8985 or www.up.edu/SARC.
