SPN 485 The Three Cultures of Medieval Spain

This course examines the variable relationships between Christians, Jews, and Muslims in medieval Spain, when the proximity of these distinct cultures enriched each one in ways unheard of since. Analysis of primary and secondary literary and historical texts will address the coexistence and even flourishing of these cultures, as well as the tensions that eventually undermined their centuries-long collaboration.
